New Member Spotlight – Osprey Tours & Handcrafted Kayaks

Osprey Tours and HandCrafted Kayaks is now launching kayaks tours off the beach behind Fins Restaurant and offering gear and kayak art from the retail space formerly occupied by PT Outdoors.  Randal Monge, owner  and builder of traditional aleut skin over frame kayaks, first came to Port Townsend from his  Handcrafted Kayaks shop in Idaho to attend the one of the very first Wooden Boat Festivals.  After Idaho, Randal and a partner started Kayak Connections in Santa Cruz CA which by the way is still going strong.  After selling his partnership there, Randal moved to Orcas Island where he has continued to guide and build kayaks in the San Juan Islands for the past 20 years.  He has paddled Vancouver Island, the Pacific Coast and all the San Juan Islands. Randy and Osprey Tours has been featured on the Travel Channel, Destination Wild and King Five TV Seattle, and Seattle Magazine. As a traveling artist, Randy was invited to St. George, Pribolif Islands, where he built a traditional kayak with an Aleut 5th grade class and was then visited by that same 5th grade class on Orcas Island the following year.   Randal has guided many specialty tours all over the San Juan Islands and is considered a premiere guide, educator and safety-minded professional. New Member Spotlight – Korean Women’s Association

We are a division of KWA, THE Korean Women’s Association of Washington, an international recognized non-profit agency offering multi-faceted human and social services throughout the Puget Sound since 1972.  KWA has an excellent track and is known for its ability to provide needed specialized services to underserved and minority as well as to the mainstream population.

The organization was originally created in Tacoma, WA as a social club of Korean women, who were wives of American servicemen, to help acclimate them into American culture.  But as more Koreans moved to Pierce County, the club began to provide translation, transportation, domestic violence assistance and other services to Korean families and later to other Asian immigrants and Pacific Islanders.  It now has offices in many Puget Sound counties along the coast and interior that provide a variety of programs and services to all people in need.  Read More

New Member Spotlight – Francine Rose – Copy. Concept. Content.

Other than occasional articles, children’s books and interactive fiction, Francine mostly writes advertising – blogs, websites, banners for grand opening hot dog giveaways – whatever it takes to promote other people’s business.

“Unlike the Hemmingways of the world, I draw inspiration from my clients. They’ve taught me everything I know about topics I never knew existed – from inhibiting ethylene production in low pressure environments to creating the perfect blueberry muffin using nothing but water.

“In return, I find solutions to their communication problems, even when the best solutions aren’t words. Read More
